Is Diet Culture Getting Out of Control?
Influencer diet culture seems to be getting more extreme every year. From bizarre “what I eat in a day” videos to unrealistic detoxes and unproven supplements, it feels like influencers push anything that gains views. Do you think diet culture has gone too far?
Some creators promote restrictive eating habits while claiming it’s “healthy,” which may encourage followers—especially teens—to copy dangerous behaviors. Others secretly use editing, injections, or trainers but pretend they achieved results naturally.
I’m curious whether you think influencers should be required to disclose when their lifestyle isn’t realistic. Are viewers too trusting, or are influencers intentionally misleading people for engagement?
