In its simplest form, a general discussion is an open-ended exchange of ideas, opinions, and information on a broad range of topics. Unlike a debate, which is competitive, or a lecture, which is one-directional, a general discussion is collaborative and exploratory.
Broad Scope: Can cover anything from daily news to abstract theories.

Collaborative: The goal is to share knowledge and build understanding, not to “win.”

Flexible: The conversation flows naturally from one related topic to another.

Inclusive: Encourages participation from everyone involved to gain a well-rounded view.
